Company History
Africa's Garden was created as a result of considerable research into African rituals utilizing plants and extracts to care for the body and health. These traditions are thousands of years old and mostly unknown to modern Americans. In the early 1990's our company's African American female founder, Ms. Almond Summers, was involved in the spa and skin care industry in Beverly Hills, California. Ms. Summers realized that many of the skin care and bath and body products in use in some of the finest spas in the world had very little in the way of natural organic formulations, nor were there any products available for the specific and unique needs of men and women of ethnic background. From the beginning, through research and testing, the company has focused on a very specific and exclusive line of products that are simply not available from any other company.

Today, Africa's Garden remains true to the vision of providing products based on the incredible diversity of African plants used for body and health care. Our raw materials are imported directly from sources in Africa. Originally, we sold our products exclusively by catalog and over the Internet. However, mainly through word of mouth, our products have become so popular that we have established a sales division available for spas, salons, and independent Garden Girl Sales Representatives who wish to provide our unique products to their clientele. Africa’s Garden is proud that we have never used animals for any product testing nor do we condone this practice. When developing new products, we do thoroughly test on human volunteers to assure the highest quality. We are a customer-driven company and take customer feedback very seriously. We welcome all ethnicities to use our line. We thoroughly review all customer surveys and comments looking for ways to improve our products and service.

Africa’s Garden has grown over the years; however, we remain an independent company allowing us to remain true to our values and vision of providing the finest natural African skin care products available anywhere.

Company Symbol
The Sankofa Bird represents the philosophy that you must look back to the past to understand how to look forward to the future. Africa is the cradle of humankind, and the traditional homeland for many African Americans. The Sankofa Bird inspires us to learn about those rituals so we can better understand what we want our future to be.

Although we admire the Sankofa, we have added our newest logo to our new brand beginning 2006 which is: Africa surrounded by Our Heart. We want to remind you to always keep Africa inside your heart. You will see our new logo on the majority of our Garden Girl Line and throughout the website and catalogs. Experience Africa in America!
